Migrate your game server from a budget host to Nexelya

Step-by-step migration from Shockbyte, Apex, BisectHosting, and similar providers to Nexelya VPS or dedicated.

Budget game hosts win on price until modpacks lag and support stops responding. Nexelya is built for communities that need honest RAM, root access, and a path to dedicated bare metal.

Before you cancel the old host

Export worlds, mods, configs, and plugin data. Note JVM flags, Java version, and mod loader (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge). Screenshot your current plan specs so you can match or exceed RAM and CPU on Nexelya.

Pick the right Nexelya tier

Light modpacks: 16GB Community VPS. Heavy modpacks: 32GB+ modded preset. Fifty-plus players with TPS issues: dedicated bare metal.

Migration day

  1. Provision the new Nexelya instance and verify SSH or KVM access.
  2. Install the same stack (Java, loader, mods).
  3. rsync world data during a maintenance window.
  4. Update DNS or share the new IP with your community.
  5. Keep the old host for 48 hours as rollback.

After cutover

Enable Managed Ops for backups before the next modpack update. Read our modpack sizing guide if you need to tune RAM.
