Getting Started with Dedicated Servers on Nexelya

First steps with Nexelya bare-metal: portal access, primary IP, power control, and handoff from provisioning.

Dedicated hosting on Nexelya

Nexelya dedicated servers are bare-metal machines provisioned through our dedicated platform,. Unlike VPS on Proxmox, you receive full hardware resources without a hypervisor layer—ideal for sustained CPU load, large memory footprints, and licensing models that do not fit virtualization.

Your Nexelya dashboard centralizes power management, IPMI access, bandwidth visibility, and service metadata so you do not juggle multiple provider portals for day-to-day operations.

After provisioning completes

When your order is fulfilled, the dedicated service appears in Dashboard → Dedicated with status, primary IPv4, hostname, and hardware summary. Allow a short propagation window for remote hands if the machine was just racked—most inventory is pre-staged.

Record asset tags, service IDs, and contract details in your internal CMDB. Nexelya customers often align Nexelya assets with broader IT documentation maintained at the organization level.

  • Verify primary IP responds to ping where ICMP is permitted.
  • Confirm reverse DNS if you send mail from this host.
  • Store IPMI credentials in your secrets manager—not in chat logs.

Remote power management

Use panel power on, off, and cycle actions for graceful recovery when SSH is unavailable. Hard power cycles risk filesystem corruption on busy databases—attempt graceful shutdown from the OS first when possible.

Power events are audited in Nexelya for compliance and post-incident review.

OS access and initial setup

Connect via SSH for Linux or RDP for Windows using credentials from your install method. If the OS was factory-imaged, rotate passwords immediately. Configure RAID monitoring tools if hardware RAID is present (MegaCLI, storcli, or vendor utilities).

For custom partitioning or OS versions outside standard images, open a provisioning request with clear specifications—Nexelya coordinates with datacenter remote hands.

Read our IPMI guide for out-of-band management, the networking guide for rDNS and additional IPs, and security hardening before production traffic. Hardware troubleshooting covers drive and memory diagnostics.

Frequently asked questions

Dedicated provisioning may take longer than VPS due to hardware allocation and imaging—plan lead time for launch dates.

You are responsible for physical security of credentials; IPMI access equals datacenter-grade control—treat BMC URLs as secret.

Bandwidth commits and overage policies appear on your plan; monitor graphs in Nexelya to avoid invoice surprises.
